Few individuals have contributed more significantly to Australia’s transport industry than Gordon Martin, whose career spans more than six decades of innovation, leadership and industry advocacy. From securing Freight Finders’ first major cattle transport contract between Griffith and Toowoomba to acquiring and growing businesses including Ravensworth Transport and Tierney Transport, Gordon built a reputation as one of the industry’s most successful and influential operators. His entrepreneurial vision and commitment to heavy vehicle transport helped create opportunities not only for his own businesses but for the wider transport sector, cementing his place as a leading figure in Australian road transport. Gordon’s impact extends far beyond business success. Inducted into the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in 2006, he later served as a Director of the Australian Trucking Association from 2014 to 2016 and was a founding member of the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association’s Large and National Operators Chapter. Awarded LBRCA Life Membership in 2017, Gordon remains actively involved in advocating for improved road access, better driver facilities and greater national harmonisation of transport regulations.
