2021

Mathew Benseman is an award-winning livestock transport operator whose professionalism, strong work ethic and commitment to safety earned him the 2021 LBRCA SafeWork NSW Young Driver of the Year Award. Originally from New Zealand, Mathew arrived in Australia on a working holiday before choosing to settle permanently after meeting his partner. What began as occasional truck driving while working on farms soon developed into a full-time career as he discovered a genuine passion for life behind the wheel. Over the past decade, he has gained valuable experience with respected operators including Woods Transport, Stockmaster and Maloney Livestock Transport, where he has become a trusted and highly regarded member of the team.

Operating a modern Kenworth T659 across regional New South Wales, Mathew transports sheep and cattle to processing facilities throughout the state, taking great pride in the responsibility and independence that livestock transport provides. He enjoys the variety of the role, the opportunity to travel through rural Australia and the chance to work alongside his dogs while meeting people from all walks of life. Colleagues describe him as practical, reliable and focused on the bigger picture, qualities that contributed significantly to his Young Driver of the Year recognition. Humble about his achievements and eager to continue learning, Mathew remains committed to maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism while serving as a positive ambassador for the livestock transport industry.
