Dianne Peisley

2017

Dianne Peisley was awarded Honorary Membership of the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association in 2017 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the livestock transport industry, her strong advocacy for rural carriers, and her role as a respected and trailblazing woman in transport.

Dianne’s career in trucking spans more than 25 years. Based in Harden in the NSW Southern Tablelands, Dianne and her husband Rodney operate a livestock transport business, with Dianne actively involved both behind the wheel and in the office. From driving B-double livestock carriers across regional NSW to managing compliance, maintenance records, accreditation and fatigue management reporting, Dianne has demonstrated a deep understanding of the practical and regulatory demands placed on rural transport operators.

Raised on a farm near Condobolin in central west NSW, Dianne grew up around trucks, livestock and farm work. With a truck-driving father and four sisters, she learned early that hard work on the farm was not defined by gender. That upbringing shaped her confidence, independence and practical skills, which later became the foundation of her career in livestock transport.

Dianne began her working life as a nurse before entering the trucking industry alongside Rodney. After spending many long trips in the truck, she obtained her licence at the age of 25 and went on to build a career that has earned her widespread respect across saleyards, farms, abattoirs and regional communities.

As one of the few women operating in livestock transport at the time, Dianne became an important role model for other women considering a career in the industry. She has consistently encouraged others to have confidence, learn the skills and “have a go”, proving through her own example that capability, professionalism and determination matter more than stereotypes.

Dianne has also been a strong voice for livestock carriers beyond her own business. She has contributed to local and state government advisory bodies and has been involved in animal welfare discussions, including advisory work connected to the NSW Department of Primary Industries. Her knowledge of livestock handling, transport operations and rural business realities has made her a valued contributor to industry policy and advocacy.

Her contribution reflects the values of the LBRCA: practical leadership, service to members, commitment to animal welfare, and support for a safe, professional and sustainable livestock transport sector.

The 2017 Honorary Membership Award recognised Dianne Peisley not only for her long-standing service to the industry, but also for the example she set for women in transport, regional operators and the next generation of rural carriers. Through her dedication, resilience and willingness to lead by example, Dianne has helped strengthen the profile of livestock transport and the important role rural carriers play across Australia.
